about
After a decade of silence between albums, LIGHT THIS CITY has returned with ten blazing tracks that capture the band’s tendency towards extreme melody and intensity, honoring the Swedish melodic death metal sound of the ‘90s. Having spent the past decade performing and touring in numerous other bands, the five members of LIGHT THIS CITY have only honed and shaped their skills and musicianship since their 2008-released Stormchaser. The album was recorded from December 2017 through February 2018 with Zack Ohren, who handled the band’s previous four full length albums, at Castle Ultimate Studios in Oakland, California, and features artwork by Tony Midi.
lyrics
"A Grotesque Reflection" Lyrics:
You’ve arrived and it feels as though you’ve been here for some time.
You’ve been here all along.
Now you’re growing tired.
Try to rest under bright, chilling imminence
Trapped where sands pile up behind you
Drinking of a grotesque reflection
Dying to be carried away
The end won’t begin when you climb aboard
We have always been his passengers
In the ultimate sense
We were born to roam Kharon’s shores
Do you know what time it was that you lost your shadow?
It’s sinking in.
It happens all over again.
The end won’t begin when you climb aboard
We have always been his passengers
The end won’t begin when you climb aboard
We have always been his passengers
I didn't know that I was dying, you said.
He said "just give it time," and laughs,
"out here everything just tends to fall into place,
and it all starts to make sense."
Red sky at night; let's go for another ride.
Letting go of a grotesque reflection.
Dying to be carried away.

I dig this album so much, definitely a keeper. Subtly and masterfully mixing death metal subgenres, backed with an over the top production. They're true professionals. Can't wait for their next release! doive

My first exposure to Inferi was seeing them live with Shadows of Intent. They were supporting this album.
Unbelievably awesome live show and the greatest possible way to discover this amazing band.
Love everything they produce. Obstacle of Affliction
